APC Releases Mode Of Primaries For 36 States, FCT …As Abe Faults NWC’s Decision On Indirect Primaries
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the mode of primaries for Saturday, September 29, 2018 governorship primary elections scheduled to hold across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This information was contained in a statement signed by APC spokesman, Yekini Nabena and sent to newsmen yesterday.
There have been confusion on the kind of primaries states will adopt this weekend.
Meanwhile, the NWC has banned the Adamawa State Working Committee from participating either as delegates or superintendents over the governorship primaries holding in the State.
“This is due to the fact that the Adamawa State Working Committee was prejudiced in favour of a governorship aspirant”, the statement added.
The statement indicates that indirect mode of primaries would hold in Adamawa, Benue, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kastina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto and Yobe State while the rest states including Lagos would use the direct mode.
Meanwhile, All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe has faulted the decision of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) supporting indirect governorship primaries.
Abe made the assertion in Port Harcourt yesterday while reacting to the NWC’s approval of indirect primaries in Rivers.
The aspirant, who represents Rivers South-East in the Senate, said that the NWC’s decision on the matter could not override the decision of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) which sanctioned direct primaries.
He stated that APC’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole had listed Rivers as one of the states to adopt direct primaries.
The senator said that NEC decided to adopt direct primaries in Rivers State because of many legal issues facing the party in the state.
Abe urged his supporters to remain focused in their clamour to have direct primaries in the state.
“We shall present our facts before the NWC in order to ensure that the right thing is done in the state.
