Team Rivers Sure To Qualify For Zonal Elimination

About eight team sports in Rivers State, left Port Harcourt, yesterday for zonal elimination tournament in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa State.
The athletes for the National Youth Games( NYG) in the state were in the camp for three weeks to enable them compete favourably and qualify to represent the state, at the forthcoming NYG, in Ilorin, first week of next month.
Director of Sports in the State, Evangelist Ezekiel Ordu, said he was optimistic that the team sports from the state would qualify following their adequate preparations.
According to him, this is the first time athletes went into camping in preparation for the youth games, adding that athletes are in high spirit and physically fit to win the competition.
” I am very optimistic that Rivers State will win the zonal elimination competition to represent the state.

Our athletes are in high spirit and determined to make the state proud”, he said.
He explained that apart from the team sports attending elimination competition, other individual sports are also prepared to win medals.
” Team Rivers will make a statement in this years’ youth games. We are not just going to participate, but to win the tournament first next month” he stated.
