Rohr Happy With Musa’s Move To Saudi Arabia

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has said that Ahmed Musa’s move from Leicester City to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr is good news.
The 25-year-old attacker joined the Saudi club on a four-year deal last week, bringing to an end a disappointing two-year spell at the King Power Stadium.
Despite leaving one of the world’s top leagues, Rohr insists that Musa’s transfer to Al-Nassr is good news for Nigerian football.
“I am very happy for Musa,” Rohr told Tidesports source. “It’s good for him to go to a club where he is playing than to a club where he is not playing.
“The assistant coach at Leicester [Jacky Bonnevay] is someone I know, and he is sad that Musa has to go,” the German coach continued. “He saw him training and he was very happy.”
Rohr added, “I do not say that [Musa’s international career will be jeopardised by his move to Saudi Arabia].
“He is an important player for us, and he is going to a club where he plays, that’s important.
“It’s better for us that he plays all the time than he stays on the bench.”
Musa was one of the few shining lights for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup, notably scoring a brace to guide the Super Eagles to a 2-1 win over Iceland in their second group match.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s head coach, Unai Emery has expressed his delight following confirmation that Alex Iwobi has penned a new long-term deal with the club.
The 22-year-old was linked with a move away from the Gunners, but those rumours were put to bed when it was announced late last week that he had put pen-to-paper on a fresh deal.
“I’m very pleased Alex has signed a new contract with us,” Emery is quoted as saying.
“He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the academy through hard work and I look forward to working with him and our other talented young players in the squad.”
The Nigeria international has scored nine goals in 98 appearances for the Gunners since making his first team debut in 2015 against Sheffield Wednesday.
