Principals Cup Tourney Kicks Off, Oct
Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Musa Talle announced on Wednesday that the 2018 edition of the Principals’ Cup competition would kick off in October in the six area councils in the FCT.
Talle told newsmen that this year’s competition would have more secondary schools participating.
He restated the determination of the FA to continue to promote football development, especially in the grassroots.
“FCT FA is the only football body in the entire country that has invested in football more than any other state.
“We will continue to do our best in setting the pace for teenagers as far as football is concerned.”
The FA chairman, who also urged all secondary schools in the FCT to brace up, said that this year’s competition would be the best of its kind.
He said, however, that the greatest challenge facing football development in the FCT was inadequate funding.
According to him, poor funding has affected the performance of some clubs to the extent that they can not foot their players’ bills.
Talle said that many clubs in the FCT that haD failed to do well in leagues like the Nigeria National League was because of a lack of funding.
He, however, pledged to produce clubs that would not only participate but lift the Nigeria Professional Football League trophy in the near future.
The Principals’ Cup tournament is a football competition for secondary schools, aimed at discovering and promoting talents among youths.
