Port Harcourt Club, FCEI End Children Sports Programme
The Children Holidays Sports Training 2018 programme, which started a month ago ended yesterday at the Port Harcourt Club 1928.
The sports training programme which was sponsored by Port Harcourt Club, in conjunction with Fair Cottage Empowerment Initiatives featured various sports events, include swimming, golf, table tennis cricket and football.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the President of Port Harcourt Club 1928, who was also the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Diamond Tobin-West called on parents to always put their children on the right track.
Tobin- West wished all the children that participated in the programme best of luck, and further task parents to bring their children to the club to learn any of the sports.
” Children tell your parents to bring you to the club, so that you can learn any of the sports here. Bring your friends next year to participate.
I wished every children who participated good luck. Hon Tobin- West said.
Speaking, the President of Fair Cottage Empowerment Initiatives(FCEI ), Judith Obomanu appealed to Rivers State Government, corporate organisations and well meaning individuals to support children sporting programmes in the state.
According to her, FCEI is a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) which aims and objectives is to train children in sporting activities and empower women in the country.
She noted that catching them young in sports has produced many notable sportsmen and women in Nigeria.
Obomanu explained that NGO which was established over 15 years ago, registered in 2014 has produced young sportsmen and women.
