PH Kids, Teens Cycling Camp Opens, ’ Morrow
The fourth edition of Kids and Teens Cycling and Triathlon Long Holidays National Camp in Port Harcourt will commence tomorrow.
About 100 kids and teens are expected to participate in the programme that would last for four days.
Coordinator of the event Miebaka Aggo said the significance of the camping programme is to ensure that children know the importance and benefits of sports, most especially cycling.
Aggo made this known in an exclusive interview with Tidesport, at the weekend,in Port Harcourt, saying that the camping will avail children learn how to become future champions in cycling.
According to him, the programme would take place at the Alfred Diete Spiff Sports Complex, Moscow Road, in Port Harcourt, adding that it will be an intensive training.
“This year’s camping will be different, because we are going to bring renowned science teachers to teach the children subjects like mathematics, chemistry and Physics because cycling entails science and not just to ride bicycle alone.
“Apart from that’ this time we are expecting at least 100 kids and teens, unlike last year where we recorded 70.
“The training will be intensive. We are sure that after the camping Nigeria will not lack cyclists,” Aggo said.
He used the forum to call on parents to register their children to enable them learn how to ride bike at their tender ages and to become future champions.
He further appreciated all those that assisted the programme, especially the President of Nigeria Cycling Federation, Giandomenico Massari and also Mr. Iboroma Akpana.
