Owumi Denies Opposing NPFL’s Resumption Date
After claims that some club representatives, including him were rooting against the league resumption, the Flying Antelopes’ boss has voiced out.
Enugu Rangers’ chairman Davidson Owumi has refuted claims that he and some club representatives kicked against the resumption of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
September 2 was proposed for the league resumption but reports had it that some clubs are kicking against the move owing to likely congested match schedules.
And the Flying Antelopes boss has disowned media report quoting him to terminate the league season, while declaring his side’s readiness for the Nigerian topflight resumption.
“I am disappointed because l have not been in Abuja for three months and I did not grant interviews to just anybody,” Owumi told media.
“This person is just namE dropping to test the waters. We [Enugu Rangers} have played over 16 friendlies since the league went on break. We spent hundreds of thousands to take my players to Owerri to play a friendly match with Heartland in Owerri last Sunday.
“Do things look like someone that is not prepared to kick off the league? They talked about fortifying our teams with what? Is he not aware that the transfer window is over? A thief must always leave a trace. He shows he does not even know how the league works.”
