Man Petitions Police Over Wife’s Threat To His Life
An indigene of Deli Village Bane in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Austin Le-Uebari, has petitioned the Commissioner of Police, Rivers Command, over the treat of his life and that of his family members by the family of Caroline Lekara Okori also of the same village.
Le-Uebari, a staff of Rivers State Television, alleged that the said Caroline Lekara Okori, whom he stated in his petition works with the Local Government Area, was his wife for 20 years, but stated that they have since been divorced according to the custom of Ogoni people, as applicable to Bane Town, through a formal ground touching ceremony.
According to him, “My life and that of my family members have been under serious threat by Caroline family (the Okoris )”.
Le-Uebari noted that he is a peace loving citizen of Rivers State and appealed that should anything happen to him or any member of his family, “or the Pastor of my place of worship and his entire family, by way of hired assassins, kidnapping or mysterious death, the Caroline Lekara Okori’s family is responsible. Infact they should be held liable”.
He appealed to the Commissioner to use his good office to notify relevant security Chiefs about the threat to his life and that of his family members.
Efforts to secure the comments of the police in the state failed as at the time of filing this report.
