KTF Discovers 20 Young Tennis Talents In PH
The Coordinator of Kodian Tennis Foundation (KTF), Stella Epegu has said this year KTF free catch them young tennis clinic has so far discovered 20 young talents.
She stated that new techniques of coaching was applied and modern facilities was also used that made the training more easier.
Epegu made this known in an interview with sports journalists in Port Harcourt, during one of the training sessions at Port Harcourt Club 1928 over the weekend.
According to her, this year’s training is more easier because the Foundation got some modern facilities and well trained technical officials that introduced new techniques of coaching.
“ The difference between last year and this year was that the faces are different besides, we have modern facilities and introduced new techniques to coach the children.
“We will keep on grooming the young ones because some of the players are growing out of the target age of the Foundation, so there is need to replace them” she said.
The KTF coordinator further revealed that the free tennis clinic would be rounded off with an Under 13 Tennis Tournament this Friday at No. 5 Field, Old Port Harcourt township.
Speaking at the event, a member of Port Harcourt Club, Tennis Section, Ambrose Tamunobere, said KTF has trained tennis players that has won laurels for the state.
He commended the coordinator of the foundation for her commitment and determination to groom young tennis players for the state and country at large.
Tamunobere called on other organizations, foundations and well meaning individuals to emulate KTF so that sports will grow in Nigeria.
Also speaking one of the trainees of KTF, David Dawariye expressed joy over the free tennis clinic, saying that the foundation has made him to know how to play tennis.
Dawariye who has represented the state and won laurels in various tournaments said he is optimistic to win gold medal at the forthcoming National Youth Games, at Ilorin next month.
