Killings: PDP Chief Wants FG To Identify Herds’ Owners

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP in the State, Chief Ndubuibu Ekwueme says the problem of herdsmen killings cannot be addressed and resolved unless the relevant authorities and the Federal Government establish, identify and disclose the real owners of the herds.
Chief Ekwueme was of the view that the controllers of the animals popularly called herdsmen were not the real owners and that the guns and ammunition they use to perpetrate the killings were bought and given to them by the owners of the herds and stressed the need to disclose their names and deal with them by law.\
“It is obvious that the so-called herdsmen are not the owners of the animals. Anyone dancing on the road has someone beating the drum in the bush. Who gives the herdsmen the Ak 47 guns they use?”, he asked, pointing out that the statement by President Muhammadu Buhari that states must give out their lands for grazing or ranching or continue to die was least expected from a leader such as him.
According to Ekwueme, “such impression is clear indication of a plan to Islamize the whole place”, saying that if the government was serious about stopping the atrocities of the herdsmen across the country, the owners of the herds should be fished out and called to order.
