Grassroots Women Football Coach Appeals For Sponsorship
The Head Coach of Royal Queens Football Club of Port Harcourt, Ogbonna Godwin says women football clubs in Rivers State need sponsorship to enable them grow to the desired height in the sport.
He said that, female football clubs are few in the state, adding that his club has grommed a lot of female players in the country.
Godwin stated this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports yesterday after a training session at the Community Secondary School Nkpolu Oroworukwo, Mile three (III) Diobu, Port Harcourt.
He explained that he has been into coaching of female footballers for the pass 15 years, adding that some of his players are in the Nigeria a women professional football league (NWPFL), the likes of Zulent Sunday in Rivers Angels and a lot of more in the NWPFL.
“My club has groomed many players in Nigeria that are doing well in their different club” the head coach said.
Godwin noted that he got his experience as a coach at the age 20 years in Sports institute Isaka, Okrika Local Government Area, Rivers State.
According to him, he has written over 100 letters to well-meaning individuals, private companies and the state government, but no answers to his appeal .
He appealed to Rivers State Government Companies and well-meaning individuals to assist the club, adding that, the club just got ball from state after football tournament held August 16, 2018, saying that he has been doing every thing single handedly for the growth of the team.
“The only assistance I gotten is from the once that groomed from the club” he noted.
