Eid-el-Kabir: NSCDC Deploys 2,000 Personnel In Enugu
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Enugu state Command, has deployed 2,000 combat ready personnel to strategic public places within Enugu state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Steve Amoga, disclosed this in an interview with the our correspondent in Enugu. Amoga noted that the command had also deployed more than eight patrol vehicles including armed and unarmed personnel to various Mosques, Eid praying grounds and relaxation centres in the state.
According to him, the special operation for the festival started 6 a.m. on Sunday, while NSCDC personnel had already taken strategic positions in strategic places with critical government infrastructure to ensure adequate protection.
“NSCDC personnel are everywhere in the state, including in the hinterland and our vehicles had commenced full-blown 24 hours patrol across the length and breadth of the state.
“Our officers and men will be on 24-hours duty at their various posting and patrol areas for seven days before they return back to the command and divisions,’’ he said.
The commandant noted that those personnel, who had been deployed to guard critical national infrastructure before now, had also been placed under alert in order to ensure that “there is no security lapse from any quarter’’.
“Our people should be law abiding as the command had mapped out plans to ensure their safety and security.
“Residents should report promptly anything they feel is a security threat to them to any of our personnel or sister security agency,’’ he advised.
