Commissioner Tasks Women On Politics
A Commissioner in the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Charity Deemua has urged women in Ogoni and Rivers State in general to play active role in the political process to enhance their socio-economic status in the society.
Deemua, who disclosed this in a press statement made available to The Tide said women were critical to the development of any society and as such should not be left out in the process of political leadership.
She called on women in Ogoni to take advantage of the ongoing visit of the Independent National Electoral Commission to villages in Ogoni to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) so as to exercise their franchise.
The commissioner urged women not to mortgage their political rights by giving out their permanent voters cards to politicians but use it to vote out bad governance.
She said the All Progressives Congress (APC) government at the federal level has brought untold hardship and agony in Nigeria and urged Nigerians to use the 2019 general election as an opportunity to vote out the party.
Deemua who is the initiator of one million women march for Wike in Ogoni assured that she would use the platform to mobilise grassroots support for the governor in 2019.
The activist and women leader described Wike as the most women friendly to enable governor, having given opportunities to women in Rivers State to serve in various leadership capacities.
