Cleric Flays Security Operatives’ High Handedness
A renowned clergyman in Rivers State, Prophet Chinecherem Otiwe has described the activities of President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government and those of his cronies in the current dispensation as elements of lawlessness.
Otiwe said the utterances and statements of President Buhari’s allies have not shown that he is a leader, who wants to bring peace in the country, noting that Buhari and his lieutenants have continued to conduct themselves in a manner that lacks the sense of decorum and decency.
Speaking with The Tide in an interview in Umuagbai-Ndoki, Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state recently, Otiwe said Buhari’s style of governance was contrary to what Nigerians are familiar with.
According to him, “I am saddened about what is going on in Nigeria. It is sad that the nation is always in the news, not for the good reasons but for all the sad things that are taking place which are orchestrated by the president administration. The saddest part of it is that he does not want peace in Nigeria”.
Oliwe insisted that the Commander of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Rivers State, Mr Akin Fakorede’s anti-democratic activities were the already written scripts by the APC-led Federal Government against the opposition party and innocent Nigerians.
“What Buhari and his APC are doing in Rivers State has never happened, that government holds rallies in an unauthorised destinations in the state, where participants of the ralies are brought in from other neighbouring states. All those attending Buhari’s rallies are not true Nigerian people and cannot claim to be Nigerians because they are only here to milk-dry the state and other Niger Delta States”, Otiwe noted.
The servant of God also used the opportunity to refute claims by the opposition parties against Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State whose government he said has brought development in the state and advised them to think out what would better the lots of the people.
Otiwe recalled that rather than providing a conducive atmosphere for opposition parties, Buhari and his APC had funded series of attacks and intimidation on opposition party members and alleged that the President also used the police to seal up the campaign office of the PDP recently in Anambra State.
He also recalled that President Buhari revoked the Certificate of Occupancy an office operated by those he perceived to be against him, arrested and charged members of a paralleled group in PDP for cult activities.
“Ninty per cent of Nigerians are in PDP. And that is why Buhari will account for any kobo used in all of this. Some persons want to use Niger Delta funds through states under it to run for their presidential ambition in 2019. APC is looking for public fund to use and they think Buhari is viable for that. He must give account of our money”, he insisted.
