Benue Lecturer Arraigned For Criminal Conspiracy, Rape Of 13-Yr-Old
A lecturer of the Department of Catering and Hotel Management, Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Andrew Ogbuja has been arraigned at the Upper Area Court One in Makurdi, the state capital for criminal conspiracy and rape of a 13-year old girl.
The defendant’s son, Victor Ogbuja, was equally accused of having canal knowledge of the said victim without her consent.
Denen Kwen Esq, however, adjourned the case to September 24, and held that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison in Makurdi.
The 51-year old Andrew Ogbuja, a lecturer of the Department of Catering and Hotel Management, Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, was arraigned last Monday at the Makurdi Upper Area Court One for criminal conspiracy and rape of 13-year old Elizabeth Ogbanje, who was his ward between 2013 and 2015.
The 13-year old victim narrated her unfortunate ordeal which initially began with the lecturer’s son, Victor now a student at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, who was at large, and failed to appear in court.
Counsel to the accused, David Ojile, however, argued that there was no basis for the accusation, saying that his clients would eventually be proven innocent.
A plea was not taken for want of jurisdiction, and the accused was remanded at the federal prison.
The case was adjourned to the September 24, 2018, for further hearing.
