Thousands of Rivers youth in Eleme Local Government Area have vowed to re-elect Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for a second term, declaring that they would defend their votes in 2019.
Speaking during a procession by Eleme youth, last Saturday, Coordinator of One Million Youths for New Rivers State, Mr Ehie Edison said that Wike has executed key projects in the area to merit their votes.
Edison said: “Today, we are seeing teeming youths in their thousands gathered to ensure that Eleme LGA is counted for Governor Wike in appreciation of all his developmental strides in Eleme Local Government Area.
“Governor Wike is committed to doing more for Rivers youths. This is the only government in the history of Nigeria that has the capacity, interest and love for the youth of Rivers State “.
He said that Rivers youth would not compromise or mortgage their future, hence the decision to ensure Wike’s victory in 2019.
He said: “We are committed and resolute and we shall stand to defend our votes. We shall ensure that our votes are counted, declared and Wike emerges the winner.
“Any attempt to short-change us will be met with resistance from Rivers youth. The youth will gather and massively resist any plot to rig”.
Also speaking, Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Barrister Philip Okparaji said Eleme was for Wike because the people want him to consolidate on his good works.
Okparaji said: “Eleme is for Governor Wike. This road constructed by Governor Wike is a clear testimony. There is no ‘go-slow’ on this road.
“Akpajo in Eleme Local Government Area is now like Port Harcourt. It has been beautified by streetlights and other amenities. Governor Wike has transformed Akpajo”.
The Eleme Local Government Area chairman said there was no alternative to Wike in 2019, noting that the people are in support of the Rivers State governor.
The Tide reports that during the rally, the secretariat of One Million Youths for New Rivers State in Eleme Local Government Area was commissioned amid celebration.
In his remarks, Secretary of One Million Youths for New Rivers State, Mr Major Jack praised the people of Eleme LGA for their support to the present administration.
He noted that the mobilisation would lead to overwhelming re-election of Wike.
The procession moved through the streets of the LGA in a carnival-like manner as youth shared pro-Wike handbills to residents.
The residents, who are beneficiaries of the numerous projects of Wike declared their support for his re-election.
The Tide learnt that the next stop of the mobilisation of youth would be Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
