Topba Tasks Journalists On Rivers Image

The National Coordinator of Ken Saro-Wiwa Associates, Chief Gani Topba has called on the Forum of Rivers Indigenous Journalists to use the journalism profession to protect the image of the state.
Chief Topba who said this during an interactive session with forum of indigenous Rivers Journalists in Port Harcourt said that the state presently had a poor image rating outside, stressing that the forum must correct the wrong impression about the state outside.
According to him, this situation was capable of chasing away investors from the state.
According to him, the Ken Saro Wiwa’s Associates believed in the unity and development of the state and country, adding that, it cannot allow the enemies of Rivers State to destroy the state.
He urged all journalists in Rivers State to use what they have to ensure that they redeem the image of the state, adding that the state has all the resources needed for investors to thrive.
He stated that the Ogoni struggle led by Late Kenule Benson Saro Wiwa had always been to remain in Nigeria to control their resources and protect the interest of the people of Ogoni, state and country at large.
Also speaking, the convener of the Rivers State Indigenous Journalists Forum, Pastor Ruskin Amadi noted that it was time Rivers journalists worked in unity to achieve a common purpose of building peace and unity in the state, and advised against anti-development reportage.
Amadi charged Rivers journalists to build stronger ties and cooperation to defend the profession in the state.
