The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has assured that his party will regain power in Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, come 2019.
Secondus, who spoke at a rally in Katsina, the state capital, last Saturday, to admit decamping All Progressives Congress (APC) members into the party in the state, said that the woeful performance of the APC in the state and at the federal level makes victory in the state an easy one even though it was the home state of the President.
The PDP chairman said that the populace in the state was anxious to see off the APC, hence their slogan, ‘let’s chase out hunger in 2019′, which to them was what the APC represents.
Secondus told a mammoth crowd of PDP members and supporters that Nigerians can no longer endure the suffering brought about by the Buhari-led APC administration.
According to a statement from the media office of the PDP National Chairman signed by the Spokesman, Ike Abonyi, Secondus told the jubilant crowd, who were shouting, “A kori Yinwa” (let’s chase out hunger) that they should be ready to vote out APC and keep hunger out of their lives.
Secondus said that Nigeria unity was seriously under threat because of APC style that has made Nigerians enemy to themselves.
He told the rally organised by the North-West zone of the party to formally welcome decamping members to the party that the APC has nothing to offer Nigerians.
“In Katsina State, APC has nothing to show outside what late President Umaru Yar’Adua and former governor Ibrahim Shema did for you”, he told the crowd.
“PDP is the only party that has the interest of the people at heart; it’s the only party that will guarantee national unity”, he claimed.
Four PDP state governors, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Darius Ishaku of Taraba, Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom and Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, were top PDP leaders that graced the occasion.
All members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, the BOT Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, former Senate President, Chief Adolphus Wabara and other members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) attended the rally.
Highlights of the rally were the PDP national chairman receiving thousands of decamping members led by a former senator and gubernatorial aspirant, Senator Mohammed Lado.
