The NDE State Coordinator, Mr Lawan Ali, said in Darazo Local Government Area of the state that the gesture was a collaboration of NDE and Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Special Duties, Alhaji Shehu Darazo.
He said the programme was geared toward enabling the unemployed people to become self-reliant in line with Federal Government effort in reducing unemployment in the country.
“The training consists of 600 women, who will be trained on Cosmetology such as the making of shampoos, air freshener, Vaseline, liquid soaps and the likes; and some will be engaged in shoe and bag making, and tailoring.
“Also, 400 men will be effectively trained in other skill acquisition programmes like tie and dye, batik, cake baking, among others.
“The training in Cosmetology will take place over a period of two weeks, while other skill acquisition programmes will last for three months,” Ali said.
One of the trainees, Mr Shehu Musa, expressed delight at the gesture and implored the government to keep coming up with such programmes.
“We the people of Darazo Local Government are very happy and excited about this skill acquisition programme. It will go a long way in reducing the unemployment rate in the state.
