NDDC To Establish Agric Processing Mills In Rivers

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has said that it would soon establish an Agricultural Processing Mill in each of the Senatorial Districts of Rivers State .
Managing Director of the Commission, Mr Nsima Ekere, announced this last Saturday at Uyo while addressing some women under the aegis of South-South Women Forum.
According to him, three states which includes Rivers, Cross River and Akwa-Ibom in the Niger Delta region were selected to benefit from the phase-one agricultural programme of the commission, soon.
He said the agricultural processing mills would include palm oil, garri and flour mill to be located in different Federal constituencies in each of the states.
The NDDC boss said the agricultural programme was part of the empowerment programmes lined up to boost employment opportunities in the region.
The Managing Director on the women-folk called to participate in the agricultural and pilot programmes to reduce unemployment among the women in the region.
He said time has gone when women remained in the kitchen and be waiting for only men to supply their needs, saying that women must be part of the struggle to create wealth for the up keep of the families.
The NDDC boss promised that the commission has a lot of programmes that would be of benefit to women in the region, urging them to support the Federal Government effort in bring a new developmental face to the country including the region.
In her speech, the president of the forum, Mrs Ekaette Ime lauded the NDDC boss for his contribution through the commission to give the region a new face of development.
