Ahead of the June 16,2018 local government elections in Rivers State, a non governmental organization, Degema Youths For Transparent and Credible Elections is seeking a level playing ground for all chairmanship aspirants rather than imposition of any candidate against the wish of the people.
In a statement signed by its Vice Chairmen, Comrade Ibinabo Agolia and Secretary, Augustine Brown, the group said imposition of candidates would breed crisis and truncate the entire electoral process.
It appealed to the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to check the activities of some political gladiators from the area and allow all aspirants to test their popularity at the polls.
The group advised political leaders in the area to heed the directive of PDP leadership in the state against imposing anyone on the electorate.
It appealed to Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, the PDP and the leadership of various communities in Degema to intervene with a view to nipping probable problems in the bud.
It further urged the electorate to vote wisely for the candidate of their choice.
