Desist From Crimes, Counsel Urges Youth
Youths in Rivers State have been warned to desist from committing crimes in order to pave way for their development as human persons.
The secretary of Advocacy for Peace, Good Governance and Social Justice, Mr Okoha Chineonye, who stated this at a forum organised by the group at Rumuodamaya in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, told the youths that kidnapping had become a capital offence by the recent amendment of the anti-kidnapping law of the state.
Okoha stated it was better for the youths to invest their time in meaningful ventures and jettison the idea of indulging in crime.
The Port Harcourt based lawyer praised the government for the speedy passage of the bill and commended the governor for his efforts at transforming the state.
He also extolled the state Governor Chief Nyesom Wike for making security of lives and property a priority in his administration.
According to him, “where there is no security life becomes brutish and short.
He urged Governor Wike to sustain the tempo achieved in the area of peace in the state.
Okoha noted that the restoration of peace in the state had proved to all doubting Thomases that he is a pacifist.
He urged the state government to partner with his group in their peace building efforts.
The Port Harcourt lawyer called on the public to support the present administration in the state.
