Council Boss Tasks Staff On Service Delivery
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Rev. Francis Ada Ebenezer has charged the staff of the council to be regular to work or risk the stoppage of their salaries and allowances.
Rev. Ebenezer handed down the warning during a workers parliament at the council’s secretariat in Ogu.
The CTC boss said it was no longer going to be business as usual with workers staying away from duty for flimsy excuses, adding that he had decided to pay unscheduled visit to the offices while registers would be provided for the various departments for workers to sign-in and sign-out on a daily basis.
According to him, the era when workers stayed at home and collected salaries were over and described the act as fraudulent.
The chairman warned that he would not hesitate to invoke the no work-no pay policy against anybody who fails to report to duty as and when due and charged them to be disciplined, as their welfare was assured.
The Ogu/Bolo CTC boss stressed that since their salaries had been paid, they owed the council a duty to be coming to work regularly and assured that whatever that was due them would be accommodated within available resources of the council, adding that the lingering election of NULGE will be conducted during his tenure to bring harmonious relationship between the management and union.
He appealed for all hands to be on deck to take the local government area to the next level to the glory of God and mankind and thanked them for their impressive turn-up.
In their separate speeches, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Mrs Gladys Nweye and O. Y. Umejuru thanked the chairman for the meeting and for giving the council secretariat a face-lift, the provision of computer sets and requested for more workers welfare packages as they were also ready to put in their best.
