The Co-Convener of BringBackOur Girls (BBOG), advocacy group, Aisha Yesufu, yesterday, insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari was “incompetent, clueless and directionless.”
She made the remarks in Abuja while noting that Buhari could be doing the same thing the previous administration did and not expect to be criticised.
In a tweet, the activist wrote: “President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari cannot be doing the same thing himself, his party and citizens criticised last administration for and not expect to be criticised.
“He and his party may be silent but we the citizens would criticise.
“The use of Aisha Yesufu’s language to the President is unbecoming but President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari‘s incompetence, cluelessness, ineptitude, directionless leadership coldness and selfishness is not unbecoming?
“Get your priorities right! He would soon travel out”
This is coming at a time when the Presidency has frowned at those criticising the Buhari-led administration.
Buhari’s Media Aide, Garba Shehu had said, “The loud voices of critics with selfish ambitions and ulterior motives should not be a veil that keeps Nigerians blind to the many ways God has blessed us and improved our lot through the Buhari administration.”
Meanwhile, Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan “wasn’t aware” of any use of Cambridge Analytica by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to influence the country’s elections, his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze said yesterday.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government is probing claims that Cambridge Analytica, a British-based political consultancy, illegally used Facebook data in past election campaigns to influence votes for the People’s Democratic Party.
In a press statement released, last Sunday, the Federal Government had said it was probing whether the firm broke the law to wage “a campaign to perpetuate discord and hack into personal records of the then leading opposition candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.”
The campaign also included “anti-election rallies” and a gory video depicting Buhari as an Islamic fundamentalist on a quest to enforce Sharia law in Nigeria, said the statement.
But in a statement, yesterday, Eze said “He wasn’t aware of it,” referring to former president Jonathan.
When asked about the probe, the Jonathan’s aide replied: “The best thing to do is to wait for the conclusion of the investigation.”
It would be recalled that Jonathan was elected president in 2010, losing to the incumbent Buhari in 2015.
Regulators in Britain and the United States are investigating claims that Cambridge Analytica unlawfully used Facebook data for political ends in a mushrooming privacy scandal that has cast the spotlight on data protection.
The firm has been tied to electoral campaigns around the world, including for US President, Donald Trump and Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta.
