2019: No Vote For Anti-Restructuring Candidates, S’South, Middle Belt Insist

The people of southern Nigeria, comprising of the South-South, South-West and South-East as well as the Middle Belt region have insisted that any presidential candidate for the 2019 General election that does not favour restructuring of the country will not be voted by the zones.
Making known the resolutions of the four geo-political zones at the mega rally held in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, last weekend, the Ijaw Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, in an interview with aviation correspondents at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, said that the group had resolved with one voice that restructuring of the country must be the number one agenda for any presidential candidate that must be voted into power.
He said that the essence of the rally in Yenagoa was to educate and sensitise the people on the issue of restructuring and the way forward, adding that Nigeria would not survive without restructuring.
“The same mega rally that has taken place in Yenagoa will soon take place in the South-East. The rally will also take place in Makurdi, Benue State in April, and after that, another one will take place in Abuja, and then, election can take place.
“They should go back to the 1963 formula. In 1963, the North controlled groundnuts and Kano was their headquarters. They had groundnut pyramids and their volume of production was 800 tons. They used it to develop the North.
“Today, everybody wants to depend on oil. At the end of the month, all the states run to Abuja to share from the oil proceeds, including the states that produce oil. Now, the North only produces 25 tons. Kano State alone has 44 local governments, while Bayelsa that produces oil has only eight local governments.
“What an injustice to our people. This must change. Let the people manage and enjoy the resources God has given to them”, Clark added.
