Monarch Sues For Peace, As Christians Celebrate Easter

As christians all over the world celebrate Easter which symbolises the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the paramount ruler of Emohua Kingdom, HRM. Eze V.C.B Okor, JP,(Mgbo Xii) has called on Christians to draw closer to God and pray for the unity and peaceful co-existence of the diverse ethnic nationalities and tribes in Nigeria.
The Emohua monarch enjoined Nigerians to eschew violence and tribal sentiments in the guise of religion and tolerate one another as God Almighty is impartial and God of all humanity. He noted that the Easter period calls for sober reflection, rededication and fervent prayers for spiritual rejuvenation in the interest of the nation.
On the significance of the Easter celebration, the peace ambassador said, “The New Testament states that the resurrection of Jesus Christ which Easter celebrates is the foundation of the christian faith, the resurrection established Jesus Christ as the powerful son of God and cited as one of the most festive events among christians world wide”.
The traditional ruler also noted that “Easter commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death as within in the christain holy Bible. He disclosed that while Good Friday marks the crucifixtion and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary, Sunday marks the day of his ascension to heaven.
He lauded the Federal and State Governments for declaring Good Friday and Easter Monday as public holidays as it would give Christians and non Christians the opportunity to be closer to God Almighty who created heaven and earth.
He stressed that the Easter period should not be seen as a period of social jamboree for various societal vices, but a time to worship God and the risen Jesus Christ, son of the living God.
