The much expected cycling competition tagged “Garden City Cycling Championship” earlier scheduled to hold February 2018 has been shifted to December this year.
Head Coach of the Rivers State Cycling Association, Miebaka Aggo disclosed this at the weekend during an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.
According to him, beside the normal monthly cycling competition continued nothing is going on for now, until the competition gets underway.
“We are waiting for a go ahead for now nothing is on ground, but with our daily training sessions and monthly competition we hope to stay physically fit and set for the task ahead”, he said.
The competition is expected to be organised by the Rivers State government in conjunction with the state cycling association.
However, the coach has encouraged the athletes to stay focused and not relent in their good works as to compete favourably when the competition finally comes up later this year.
I urged my cyclists to remain committed to their chosen sports as always and continue to do their best this will further enhance their performance and improve their skills on the sport. I know that they need all these to succeed at the championship” he said.
He stated that his team has what it takes to win gold medals at the competition, and also advised them to work harder.
Meanwhile, the team would witness a special competition this weekend here in Port Harcourt, at the old GRA normal race ground behind the Brathwaite Memorial Hospital (BMH) where an American Coach will come and watch the competition.
