The Rivers State Council for Islamic Affairs has disassociated itself from a radio statement credited to one Alhaji Ibrahim Aselemi over the establishment of cattle Colonies across the country including Rivers State.
In a statement signed by the Islamic Leader and Vice President General of Rivers State Council for Islamic Affairs (RSCIA), Alhaji NasirAhwelebe Uhor, the council said Alhaji Aselemi who reportedly addressed himself as the Secretary General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Rivers State branch , implying that he was speaking on behalf of the council and the Muslim community in the state could not claim to be speaking for the body.
Uhor stated that while Alhaji Aselemi was entitled to his opinion on any matter of public interest, the council had not taken a stand on the cattle colony nor authorised anybody to speak on its behalf on the matter.
According to him, the National Secretariat recognises Chief Awwal Aribitonye Okiri, who is Special Adviser to Governor Wike as their Secretary General.
The Muslim leader therefore urged the Muslim community, the public especially security agencies and the media to disregard that radio announcement.
