Group Embarks On Grassroots Mobilisation For Wike
Rivers Youth Movement (RYM) for Wike 2019, a political pressure group has embarked on grassroot mobilisation to ensure the re-election of Rivers State Governor, Chief NyesomWike for a second term.
The group which was at the palace of a traditional ruler, Eze Sylvanus Ogbueri, the Onwa 1 of Omuma at Umueze Umuogba in Omuma Local Government Area of the state, Sunday, told The Tide that if intends to massively mobilise for Wike for 2019 Gubernatorial election.
RYM President, Comrade Emmanuel Hart, said the superlative performance of the governor has raised the hope of Rivers youth in governance.
Hart who stated that youths constitutes 75 per cent of the population of the state stressed that such population should not leave governance and leadership in the hands of the aged people.
“We no longer hold on to the saying that youths are the leaders of tomorrow. Youths should be leaders of today, not just tomorrow because tomorrow never ends. Yesterday was tomorrow and today was tomorrow”, he said.
Noting that service and sacrifice to the state in the spirit of true patriotism must be a front burner in the heart of every youth, he urged youths to participate actively in policy formulation and implementation.
Hart said RYM would establish its structure and presence in all wards of the State to ensure that every person of 18 years and above obtains his or her Permanent Voters Cards and mobilise to ensure that Governor Wike’s second term project is a reality to enable the governor continue with his good work in the interest of the state.
The Group which announced the appointment of Eze Ogbueri as the patron of the association said the choice of the royal father was predicated on his examplary lifestyle and philanthropy.
“The Onwa has awarded scholarships to persons in the area at all levels of education, helped personally funded road construction and sponsored several youths to acquire stills that make them live better”, he said.
He said the pro-Wike organization needed the wise advice of a persons like the royal father to enable them succeed in the project.
In his response, EzeOgbueri accepted the offer, premising if on the fact that he knows Governor Wike as a man who does whatever he promises to do.
“I’m happy you come for the actualisation of Governor Wike’s second term bid. I will be your patron because Wike is a man you can trust any day and I’m impressed with his good works in Rivers State and Nigeria”, the royal father said.
He advised the youths to be focused in the project and to shun anything that could link them to anti-social activities.
The royal father also promised to support the group in whatever ways possible to make the project a success.
