CRSG To Partner Group On Healthcare Services

The Cross River State Government has reiterated its commitment to work with “Pathfinder International” in the provision of health services to pregnant women in the state.
The State Deputy Governor, Prof Ivara Esu gave the indication when the President of Pathfinder International, Lois Quam and her team called on him in Government House, Calabar.
He acknowledged the reduction of about 12 percent in mortality rate of maternal and childhood birth within 18 months of their stay in the State and expressed happiness over the level of commitment shown by Pathfinder International in the provision of effective and accessible health care for the citizenry.
He appealed to other Non-Governmental Organisation to borrow a leaf from Pathfinder International in promoting health services in the state.
The President, Pathfinder International, Lois Quam informed that the team is in the state to access the Cross River team of the group and what the State Government has done so far in the reduction of mortality rate of pregnant women.
She explained that, the team decided to begin its work in Cross River State due to the high rate of mortality of maternal and childhood birth recorded in the state.
The Pathfinder President, expressed appreciation for the partnership with the state government adding that, it would not achieve its objective without the cooperation of the people and government of the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong described Pathfinder International as “very supportive” to the state government especially with their “saving-mother-giving life” project currently on going in the state.
She maintained that the organization’s target was to reduce the maternal mortality rate to 10-15 per cent in the state which according to her, has already been achieved.
