SWAN President Plans Trophy To Honour Thompson

National President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Honour Sirawoo has said that he will donate a trophy in honour of former National Vice Chairman of SWAN, late Clinton Thompson to Bayelsa State chapter of the association.
Sirawoo made the pronouncement shortly after the six kilometer road race organised by the Bayelsa State SWAN, on Wednesday, in Yenagoa.
He explained that the trophy is for a football competition amongst media houses in the state.
The SWAN boss commended the organisers for putting up a befitting event.
While delivering his address of welcome, the Chairman of Bayelsa State SWAN, Datonye Alambo, said the road race event would be an annual event.
Also speaking at the event, the Bayelsa State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, John Angase and the State Chairperson of Nigeria Association of women Journalists, Maria Olodi, said the road race was a noble initiative worthy of commendation.
In the men’s category of the event, Ese Odiri Richard, emerged the overall winner with a grand prize of fifteen (15) thousand naira, while Perez Walson  of Niger Delta Television and Zyno Okoye of Delight Newspaper finished second and third place respectively.
While in the women’s category, Winifred Igiri of Niger Delta Television clinched the first position, also with fifteen (15) thousand naira cash prize and trophy donated by Nengi James Foundation, Onisofien Owei of Africa Independent Television came second and Layefa Eselemo of the Nigeria Television Authority was placed third.
