‘NYG ’ll Help Us Grow New Athletes’
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Oyo State Sports Council, Olayiwola Adeleke, has said that the upcoming 2017 National Youth Games (NYG) will help the state to grow new athletes.
Adeleke told newsmen in Abuja that the state would utilise the opportunity of the Games to expose and develop its athletes.
He said Oyo State had qualified in all the team events at the zonal elimination series and therefore feature a total of 125 athletes to participate in 20 sports.
“We want to showcase what we have. We have developed our upcoming athletes who are going to represent Nigeria both at national and international levels.
“With the level of our preparation, we are set to win at least 10 gold medals. This is because we have athletes who can deliver,’’ Adeleke said.
The PRO said the state’s contingent would however not be looking to win medals at all cost at the Games, saying they would accept whatever comes to them.
