Ikpeazu Tasks Public Officers On Dev Agenda
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has urged officials of the state government to step up efforts in supporting the state government’s agenda aimed at accelerating infrastructural development in the State.
Ikpeazu made the call at the inauguration of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) Board and swearing-in of two Permanent Secretaries in Umuahia.
The governor said that the state government’s aims and objectives were centred on changing the narrative of Abia State in order to transform the state into an investor’s haven.
Ikpeazu said that so much were expected from the newly sworn in officials and expressed confidence that they would be worthy ambassadors of the state government.
He disclosed that the state government was mindful of the aspirations and needs of the people from the oil producing areas as well as the entire state.
“The narrative is that such communities are not well taken care of which has led to all kinds of agitation, that is threatening security and integrity of infrastructural facilities.
“We urge the commission to ensure that both oil and non-oil producing areas in Abia were carried along in its programmes for even development.
“We are hopeful that the crop of people that have been chosen will be worthy partners with the state government to deliver quality infrastructure and bring succour to those who need it.”
Earlier, Chairman of ASOPADEC, Chief Sam Nwogu, thanked Abia Government for the opportunity given them to serve the people of the state.
Nwogu assured that the board would live up to its expectation and ensure socio-economic advancement of both oil producing and non-oil producing areas in Abia State.
