Wogu Slams Wanjoku Over Plenary
The lawmaker representing Omuma Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly (RVHA), Hon Kelechi Wogu, has again debunked the insinuation by a member representing ikwerre Constituency, Hon Azubike Wanjoku that the Assembly holds plenary only on the directive of the Governor of the state.
Wogu last Friday in Port Harcourt, said it was not true that the House sat only at the Governor’s instance.
He described the allegation as false and baseless, saying that the lawmaker, an APC member, deliberately made the allegation to create chaos in the House and in the state.
According to him, the Assembly has always held its plenary in accordance with its rules, except on emergencies.
Wogu, who is also the chairman of the House’s Committee on local government affairs, said the House has spelt-out rules that guide it, saying it was unfortunate that an opposition lawmaker would decide to raise false alarm because of party politics.
He called on the relevant House Committee to look into the matter and sanction the lawmaker in accordance with the order of the House, adding that such rumours could precipitate another crisis in the legislature.
Wogu advised the general public to disregard the allegation, assuring that the Assembly would continue to weave its legislative activities around Wike’s New Rivers Vision for the development of the state.
