UNIPORT To Expand Claude Ake School Of Govt
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Ndowa Lale has pledged support to expansion of facilities and programmes of the Claude Ake School of Government, which graduated its first batch students at the weekend.
Lale praised the management and staff of the school for resilience and vision to make the school a world class facility despite the funding challenges.
He said, “I am impressed with the quality…It is not the size or sophistication of the graduation that counts but the commitment.”
Lale averred that soon the school and all its programmes will be the flagship in policy and business education in the country.
The University of Port Harcourt Vice Chancellor enjoined the students to exemplify what they have learnt, “All you need is matching character with knowledge and make sure you contribute to nation building.”
He also enjoined the graduands to also support their alma mater, as that is one way to improve the learning environment and reciprocate the training gotten.
On her part, Dean of Graduate Studies, Prof. Anthonia Okerengwo said CASG has evolved programmes that will fit the Nigerian environment and contribute to governance.
She disclosed that the University of Port Harcourt was making improvements in its graduate studies, as she assured that the school will soon expand going by its current standards.
Director of the school, Prof. Eme Ekekwe thanked the Senate and Council of the university for the support given to make the school a success.
Ekekwe said the pool of lecturers in the school gave impetus to its achievements, stating that the nine graduands had passed through thorough academic and professional grooming to affect society.
The CASG director stressed, “we have made progress slowly, but we have done so with sure steps.”
