Crisis is now rocking the Bayelsa Line Traders Association, Mile III Market branch, following allegation of financial misappropriation against the association’s Chairman,  Mr Godwin Nwosu.
Some officers of the association including the Vice Chairman, Mr Innocent Amaroma had alleged that the association’s Chairman, Mr Nwosu had failed to give  account of monies collected so far from the traders.
They alleged that efforts made by the association to call the chairman to order had proved abortive.
However, speaking with The Tide, the association’s Chairman, Godwin Nwosu described the allegation as the handiwork of detractors, stressing that the sum of N2,500 which each trader pays yearly is being remitted to the Port Harcourt City Council through the Ward 10 Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Maxwell Amadi.
According to him, the money which amounts to over a million naira is not being used by the association to maintain gutters.            Nwosu explained that the N2,500 storage fee is the only levy being paid by the traders, stressing that no other levy is imposed on them.
He described the allegation as a calculated attempt by some persons to  ridicle him as well as smear his reputation.
Also speaking, the immediate past Chairman of the association, Mr Austin Nwachukwu  described the allegation as false, stressing that it was being peddled by those who are yearning to take over the position of the chairmanship of the association.
