The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyours and Valuers (NIESV) has solicited improved collaboration between the two chambers of the National Assembly to address the challenges confronting valuation in the country.
Vice Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the institution, Mr Hamlton Udom, made this known in a chat with The Tide in Port Harcourt, Tuesday.
Udom said the institute, in its desire to resolve  challenges confronting valuation in Nigeria, has urged the nation’s lawmakers to speedily pass the bill affecting the NIESV to enable the institute progress to enviable position in the scheme of things.
He disclosed that the institution would in future collaborate with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and pursue other ethical matters that would help enhance its standard of practice.
The estate surveyor and valuer used the opportunity to appeal to the institution to review its professional charges in line with global trends and economic realities of the country.
Listing other issues that need to be resolved in the institution, Udom said, land-based revenue generation opportunities, optimizing tourism in real estate through Foreign Direct Investment (REDI), and integrated urban-rural development as well as mobilising the private real estate investments.
According to him, the move was necessary, to address challenges resulting from the crippling effects of the country’s economy.
