SDP Hails Wike’s Show Of Love For Buhari
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Rivers State has commended the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike for accompanying All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors to welcome the President, Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a ‘show of love for the President.
President Muhammadu Buhari, Saturday returned to Nigeria from his medical trip to the United Kingdom, after over 100 days.
The presidential jet, touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 4:30pm last Saturday amid cheers from Nigerians.
Top government officials including Governor Wike were among those at the airport to receive him
The Chairman of the party, Engr. Joshua Worlu in a chat with The Tide said, for Wike to have joined APC Governors to welcome Buhari, showed that he was a true democrat who did not consider party affiliations in carrying out his civic responsibility.
He Commended Governor Wike for showing love despite the fact that he was of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that the President’s safe return and recovery the Presdent was good news to all Nigerians and the people must rejoice.
According to him,’’ SDP reaffirmed its commitment to work with the Governor of Rivers State to improve the standard of living of Rivers people for the overall development of the state.
“ We as members of SDP thank Almighty God for bringing President Muhammadu Buhari back, whole, hale and hearty and we also commend Wike for showing love and care for the President’’, he said.
Worlu who is the Deputy Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) however reminded the Governor not to forget the promises of unity government, adding that he has so far included some members of IPAC in his administration which required more because of the assistance and hands of fellowship by other political parties in the state.
He also prayed God to continue to bless Nigeria and give Governor Wike and President Buhari the strength and wisdom to lead the state and country successfully.
