RVHA Speaker Preaches Forgiveness
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly (RVHA), Rt Hon Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani says forgiveness is the only key that can open the door of peace and development in the society.
Ibani said this last Tuesday after he read out the congratulatory text message sent to him by his major opponent in All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Dressman Romnsan at the Appeal Court victory celebration ground in Port Harcourt.
Ibani, whose victory at the last December 10, 2016 rerun legislative election in Andoni Constituency was affirmed by the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja, said he has already forgiven all those that fought him either justly or unjustly, including the APC Assembly candidate in the election, Dr Dressman Romnsam.
The Speaker who stressed the need for forgiveness, urged his supporters and party faithful in the area to also forgive their opponents in the election.
He said having been elected to serve the generality of people of the area, it behooved him to protect every one’s interest, irrespective of their party affiliation.
Ibani, who thanked God for the victory, promised that he will not use the victory God has given to him to witch-hunt anyone, assuring that he would ensure that the right things are done for the people of Rivers State and his constituents in particular.
He called on the opposition, especially his opponents, in the APC to shun political differences and support him and the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for peace and development to thrive in the state.
Ibani, who dedicated the victory to God and to the people of his constituency also thanked his constituent for given him the mandate to be a member of the House, saying that his election as speaker was sequel to their mandate.
The speaker who thanked Governor Nyesom Wike for his support commended members of the Assembly for their understanding and unity which he noted have helped in piloting the Assembly’s affairs.
