Rivers United Beats Enyimba 2-1 …Escapes Relegation
Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt have heaved a sigh of relief as they stroll out of relegation waters, following their 2-1 victory against continental hopeful, Enyimba FC of Aba.
The match was one of Week 35 games in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, yesterday in Port Harcourt. It was the host most critical game in the NPFL because of their position on the log.
Homeboy Bernard Ovoke opened scoring for the host through a well taken freekick at three minutes into the game.
Abdoulaye Kanoute doubled for the home team, at the 28th minutes, as Enyimba’s Franco Koffi Ineador shook the net of his opponents at 34th minutes.
However, both teams displayed good quality football and missed several goal opportunities.
Generally, Rivers Limited FC can now relax their nerves a little following their victory that would make them to escape relegation.
