Quadri, Oshonaike Out Of ITTF Nigeria Challenge

Nigeria’s Bode Abiodun at the weekend  sent the number one seeded player, Aruna Quadri, packing at the ongoing Seamaster ITTF Nigeria Open holding at the Teslim Balogun, Stadium.
Abiodun defeated Quaudri, the competition favourite,  4-2 in a keenly contested match, which was greeted with  cheers from spectators, in the round of 16
Abiodun who ply his trade in Portugal was part of the Nigeria’s team to the 2016 Rio Olympics Games in Brazil.
Meanwhile, the winner of the 2016 edition, Olah Benedek of Finland, defeated Khaleed Assar by 4-1 in the title race.
Omar Assar of Egypt also ousted Scotland’s Rumgay Gavin by 4-2
Also, Funke Oshonaike who was seeded No. 6 suffered the same fate after losing to Italian Piccolin Giorgia by 1-4 in the round of 16.
Nigeria’s Cecilia Akpan also lost to Bulgarianot,  Balint Bernadette by 1-4.
Tidesports source gathered that all the country representives in the women’s singles event have crashed out of the tournament, while Abiodun is the only Nigeria in the men’s singles.
It would be recalled that 22 countries took part in the 46,000-dollar prize  event.
The challenge which served off on August 9 was concluded yesterday August 13.
