NBC Bans Olamide, Davido, 9ice’s Songs

Over the past few days, news has been making the rounds over the ban on some songs on the Nigerian air waves. Amongst the songs banned was Olamide’s new single ‘Wo,’ which caught the attention of the Federal Government and the Ministry of Health and ministry of health.
The ministry disclosed that ‘Wo,’ in which Olamide mentioned cigarettes contravened Nigeria’s laws on tobacco, advertising, promotion and sponsorship.        According to them, the video promotes a dangerous habit that encourages second hand smoking. The risks from this include cancer, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
The NBC also banned “If (remix) by Davido and ‘Living Things’ by 9ice. They are still to react to this latest move by the commission.
