The Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) has urged the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Khana Local Government Area, Gbene Lekue Zine to engage traditional rulers, youth bodies and other stakeholders to ensure the protection of lives and property in the area.
MOSOP President, Legborsi Pyagbara stated this during a courtesy visit, last Saturday, by the caretaker committee chairman to the MOSOP president at his home town, Nyonkuru.
Pyagbara promised to synergise with the Khana CTC boss in ensuring the reduction of criminality in the area.
“For us, we think that as a local government area, the chairman and his team need to do more engagement with his traditional rulers, do more with the people in the LGA and also, particularly the political class in the LGA, because we cannot divorce some of the conflicts we have seen in the area from the political elite, just as we cannot also divorce some of the crises we have seen relatively from the traditional rulers. So, I think that he should focus on engagement with the traditional rulers, political elite and also with the young people irrespective of the political class”.
On his part, the Chairman, CTC, Khana, Zini assured that the partnership with MOSOP, traditional rulers, youth bodies and security agencies would ensure that total peace returns to the area.
