Lawmaker Tasks Commissioners-Designate On Service Delivery

The Chairman of the Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Doctor Farah Dagogo, has charged commissioners-designate in the state to justify their appointments with performances that would align with the expectations of the people.
Dagogo encouraged them to give their all and justify the confidence reposed in them by Governor Nyesom Wike and the people of the state.
It would be recalled that the State Assembly, had recently, screened and confirmed 14 commissioners-designate.
The Tide reports that nine of the commissioners-designate were part of the State Executive Council dissolved on June 24, by the state governor.
The nine returning commissioners are, Walter Ibibia, Ukel Oyagihri, Isaac Kamalu, Damiete Herbert-Miller, Boma Iyaye, Emeka Onowu, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, Rodaford LongJohn, and Barrister Emma Okah.
Those new on the list included, Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja, Prof. Princewill Chike, Elder Tasie Chinedu Nwobueze, Charles Nworgu and Barrister Sylvanus Nwankwo.
A statement by the lawmaker, and made available  to The Tide, last Wednesday, enjoined them to see their appointment as divine and an avenue to leave a positive mark in the historical development of Rivers State.
“On behalf of the entire people of Degema Local Government Area, I, Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo, congratulate Hon. Damiete Herbert-Miller over his successful re-confirmation by the Rivers State House of Assembly as a commissioner in the Rivers State Executive Council.
“The people of Degema equally extend their warmth felicitation to other commissioners designate, who were successfully screened by the state lawmakers.
“We are very optimistic that Hon. Damiete Herbert-Miller, incidentally an illustrious son of Degema, alongside other commissioners-designate will bring their wealth of experience on board to move the state forward.
“We equally commend Governor Nyesom Wike for placing his faith in Hon. Damiete Herbert- Miller and others in the arduous task of developing Rivers State.
“Furthermore, the commissioners-designate should know that God has positioned them to be a part of the history of Rivers State at this period of time, through the instrument of Governor Nyesom Wike, and as such should strive to be above board by giving their all,” part of the statement read.
