Lawmaker Explains Accounts’ Verification Exercise
The Chairman, Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Finance, Hon Edison Ehie has said that the ongoing exercise on verification of accounts of state-owned parastatals has been fruitful.
Hon Ehie, who stated this recently after meeting with some heads of parastatals, as part of the oversight functions of the lawmakers said the meetings that the parastatals had, confirmed not only receipt of the budget but also allocation till date.
The House Committee Chairman commended the Governor for keeping in line with the appropriate law, noting that organisations with grey areas would still be called upon for explanation.
The lawmaker also absolved the management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education of blame, noting that the institution obtained permission to appear on Wednesday, which they did. The Primary Healthcare Management Board also appeared before the committee as promised.
