Jaja Advises Eagles Against Cameroon
Coach of Opobo United Football Club, Michael Thomas Jaja, has advised both the technical crew and players of the national team not to lose focus when the team battle against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the group match later next month.
He enjoined them to do their best to maintain the lead by beating Cameroon in the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifying series and not to rely solely on their two victories recorded so far against Zambia and Algeria.
Nigeria, pitched alongside former African Champion, Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia has recorded victories over Zambia and Algeria, amassing six points in the process. Cameroon with two points is next to trade tackle against the Super Eagles of Nigeria while Algeria and Zambia take the rear with a point appease.
Despite the foregoing, Jaja is still not comfortable as he said the team must avoid becoming complacent.
Speaking at Opobo Town on the chances of Super Eagles of Nigeria qualifying for the mundial, he said Eagles, with six points already in the kitty and in pole position for the next World Cup, need throw away what they have achieved so far. “We need to work more harder and ensure we don’t lose focus in the field of play and slip along the line. We should not relax because Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia would not go down with a fight. Every team in the group still have potential opportunity of qualifying for the World tournament”.
He believes with the gains so far achieved, the Eagles only have themselves to beat. “We have got lots of talents and it will be sad and unacceptable to see the team fail in their quest for the 2018 FIFA World Cup ticket”.
Jaja further advised the technical crew as headed by Gernot Rohr to always carry the home-based players along as they continue their search for players that can make the team unbeatable. “You have to give chance to every players to prove their worthy,” adding, “we have talented and hard-fighting players in the domestic league who can also help the national team to advance”.
