Girl Electrocuted In Rivers Community

Residents of Imeh community, Igboh Kingom in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State were thrown into mourning last Tuesday, following the electrocution of a 15 year old girl, Miss Titi Gbenga.
The deceased  who hail from Osun State and resides with her parents at Umuazu, Imeh, Igboh Etche, was reportedly electrocuted in the wee hour of the day, as a result of faulty television antenna which she held without knowing that the pole was defective.
A source disclosed that the victim got electrocuted due to electric current from outside television pole which she held to support herself while watch a brawl in the yard.
Some residents of the area, who spoke with The Tide, on the unfortunate accident attributed the death of the girl to the negligence of her parents who refused to heed to advice to remove the faulty television antenna.
Ejikeme Agbam, the landlord of the deceased’s family, described the incident as saddening. He said the incident would have been avoided if the parent had removed the antenna as adviced.
A neighbour of the deceased, simply known as Mrs Nworgu, said the faulty electric pole had earlier giving fatal signals in the neighborhood, as other people have received electric shock from it.
She said the parents of the decease were not around as at the time of the incidence, adding, she had been at home as a result of the heavy rains which disrupted her activities.
