Flooding: PH Traders Bemoan Low Patronage

Following the continuous flooding of the  Mile I Market in Port Harcourt as a result of persistent rainfall, traders in the market are now complaining  of low sales.
Investigation by The Tide  reveals that most of the traders have abandoned the market because of the incessant flooding of the area.
Some of the traders,  who spoke to  The Tide  said that, they are being  forced to leave  the market because of the flooding.
They said that, the situation is scaring away customers from the market and called on the government to come to their aid by making sure that the water is channelled to the  Ntawogba stream.
A beef seller,  Mr Adebayo Taju, said the rain is affecting his business  as customers are no more coming to buy from him.
Another respondent, Mrs Chairlady Udo, who also spoke with The Tide said that, the raining season has affected her and other colleague in the same line of business, because no customer comes to buy their goods, adding that, the government should ensure that the cost of goods comes down to the normal  price  until it was sold, because the  high cost of products is another problem  facing them.
Mr. Victor John, who also spoke with The Tide, said that,  he sells clothing in the market, adding  that  though the raining season is normal but it is affecting him due to the low sales he experiences daily.
“The raining season is a normal  thing, Mr, Chibueuze  Okechukwu, asserted, adding that  he has been in business for more than (20) year’s  but this year rain is one of the worst he has experienced.
