Ex-Councillors Pledge Support For Speaker
Former councillors, under the aegis of Former Councillors Forum, Andoni Local Government Area Chapter of Rivers State, have pledged continued support to the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani.
The former councillors also pledged support to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area.
The forum, through its spokesman, Mr Genesis Adolpheus who made this known on Friday, in Port Harcourt, said the pledge was part of the resolutions reached at the forum’s meeting at Ngo.
According to the forum, Ibani, as the 9th speaker of the State Assembly since 1979, has distinguished himself as the best speaker the state has ever had.
It said the speaker’s performance has made Andoni people proud.
Listing the achievements of the lawmaker, the forum said no lawmaker who represented the area has ever done what Ibani has so far done in the area of development.
It said nearly all communities in the area have something to show as prospects or programmes attracted by the speaker from when he was first elected as member of the House in 2007.
The forum recalled how Ibani has consciously touched the lives of youths and women especially widows, in the area of empowerment and scholarship.
It called for more supports to the speaker to enable him to deliver on good governance as a speaker and as representative of Andoni Constituency. The forum also advised the youth and the people of the area to be peaceful and supportive of the state’s government effort at restoring the cost glory of the state.
