Members of the Edo State House of Assembly are presently spoiling for war with Governor Godwin Obaseki and have threatened to abandon the All Progressive Congress, APC for the Action Democratic Party (ADP), over alleged attempt to pauperize the House.
The Tide gathered that the lawmakers have decided to take their destiny in their own hands after the governor was alleged to have slashed N25million from their overheads last week.
Sources also informed that the security votes of the members and their oversea trips which have been a ritual every year to enable the lawmakers attend the Edo Convention in the United States have also been cancelled by the governor.
It would be recalled that the governor had informed the 18 commissioners who were sworn-in last Thursday that they should not see the office as an avenue to make money as there was no money in his government to be shared.
Some of the aggrieved lawmakers, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, lamented that they have reported the matter to leaders of the party including the immediate past governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who is the state caucus leader of the party but nothing has been done.
One of the lawmakers who spoke shortly after a meeting of some of the APC lawmakers narrated that “the governor does not care about our welfare. We are all aware that things are hard but that does not mean that you have to deny members of their entitlements even when we are the poorest Assembly in Nigeria.
